Reflexology
Our Reflexologist is qualified in the Art of
Feet® technique which is an extremely effective, soft but firm
approach. Reflexology works on the 7200 nerve endings that are
in each foot. These are considered to be “reflex” points. Each
point is representative of the organs in the body. When working
these points the body can be activated allowing the body to
begin to heal itself, naturally. Reflexology is not a
substitute for medical treatment, but can be used in addition to
it. Reflexology helps to reduce stress and brings about
relaxation. Reflexology is depicted in a pictogram, in a
pyramid in Egypt dating back 7000 years. It was introduced to
the Western society by Dr. William Fitzgerald, who was an ear,
nose and throat specialist in America.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use essential oils
extracted from different parts of plants. They are used to
relieve stress and minor ailments in the body. In art and
writings from the ancient civilizations of Egypt, China and
Persia plant essences were used and valued by physicians and
healers. Plant essences have been used throughout the ages in
incense, perfumes and embalming ointments and for culinary
purposes.
Aromatherapy practitioners now use these
essential oils and blend them together specially according to
specific needs and by means of wonderfully relaxing body
massages, oil burners or baths. The oils can penetrate the skin
and enter the bloodstream for the body to receive the full
benefits of the properties of the essential oils.
Hot Stone Massage
Involves the use of heated volcanic rock or
specific stones that are applied to the body in different ways
to relieve stiff and sore muscles. Hot Stone Massage also
assists in alleviating some medical conditions. The stones
gently glide over the muscles together with some oil creating a
positive and tranquil effect and therefore promoting energy,
harmony and balance in the body.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal
Life Force Energy, ‘Rei’ signifies universal spirit and ‘Ki’
signifies the vital force energy which can be related to ‘Prana’
in Ayuerveda and ‘Chi’ in Chinese acupuncture. Reiki is a way
of activating the natural energy for the promotion of health,
healing and balancing of the chakras within the body and creates
a state of deep relaxation.
